I have a pretty good idea what happened to the shrimpers and it's not a pleasant thought. What did they think, that they could keep their boats from sinking or running aground?

Like-minded Art Depodesta sat on the edge of a picnic table outside Cooter Browns Bar I heard my Mother use the phrase "drunker than Cooter Brown" many times while growing up and since her maiden name was Brown, I just assumed he was a relative.
I asked her about it after I was an adult and she told me that it was just a phrase she heard while growing up too and she didn't know anyone with that name.
Another childhood illusion smashed!

They were 90 foot, steel hulled and safer than their wooden homes. They hoped.

Cooter Brown's? That's at St. Charles and Carrollton. They've got looters screwing around up there?
That's not good.
On a lighter note, it's good to see that there's a guy named DePodesta who'll actually pull the trigger once in a while.

That's right. I was in NO late May, early June and was driven to Fats house by a NO former native to see it. It was pouring rain that day, but I was glad that I got to see it. I think he lived not too far from one of the levee's. His house is probably gone.

Here's something from NASA.Here's something from NOVA. But now scientists have made a startling discovery. It seems there's a storm brewing deep within the Earth, a storm that is weakening our vital magnetic shield. You can Google for this yourself. There are those who say it ain't so, but "How long can you tread water?"

In Uptown, one the few areas that remained dry, a bearded man patrolled Oak Street near the boarded-up Maple Leaf Bar A friend of mine from high school lives Uptown and works at the Maple Leaf 6 months out of the year. Fortunately, he was traveling when this hit, but it's nice he has a home to go back to.

"With the water rising from the breeched levees, of what value are the Nikes and video games they looted. Darwinism at its finest...stay and steal, not find a way to get to higher ground and safety."I couldn't have put it better. Some Darwin Awards are probably going to come from this.

Oh my lord. They failed to drop the sandbags because someone dropped the ball? man, some of you guys really jump the ball and you dont knwo any facts. You just want to attack someone as if this is someones fault that a hurricane hit New orleans.
No, the head of the core of engineers was on MSNBC tonight and said they tried sandbags but that the break was too wide, then they tried placing cars into the hole but the water was washing them away. He said they will try to create a new dam further up the canal but he was close to saying that it wasnt going to be stopped and that the water would stop when the canal ran out of water....after filling the city

NASA:The pole kept going during the 20th century, north at an average speed of 10 km per year, lately accelerating "to 40 km per year," says Newitt. At this rate it will exit North America and reach Siberia in a few decades.

Kewl, Thanks!
If it were my lively hood and life, I'd probably have done the same.
But I'm a landlubber, so I'm ascared of the deep sea anyway. I'd trust a bulldozer in a twister before I would a house.
