No. Did the price of drilling equipment double? Did the crews who operate them double their pay? The cost to produce a gallon of gas includes the cost to drill the oil. That has not doubled.

On the contrary, with the new blending regulations, the increase for the cost of transportation, epa regs,union demands, etc have all played a part.You think you can buy pipe to drill with for the same money you could 5 years ago? Dream on fella.

Some equipment was wrecked, and it'll be necessary to pay people to rebuild.

Meanwhile, we'll have Congressional investigations and pay for accountants and book-keepers to find (or not) gouging.

Don't sweat though, when the stations are out of fuel, they can post REAL low prices.
