CNN showing interview with Slidell cop who went back to his home for the first time this morning. He went to check on an 80 year old neighbor who stayed to ride out the storm. The neighbor was gone; had been rescued, thankfully. His home, of course, was decimated, but he said that all in all, he's happy. His family is safe; he said that he can rebuild. His priority is helping others in his community.
That sounds like a stand up guy.

I've heard Slidell mentioned prominently thru this whole tragedy.
Can anyone out there tell me what kind of city Slidell was before the hurricane?
Crime-ridden? Well-kept?

Great story. The MSM could focus more on the LEO who have lost all their property and possessions, yet tirelessly continue to search for and rescue their neighbors.
They are true heroes.
