And I'm tired of having to defend the mayor of a destroyed city just because politics puts him, or you, or whoever on the wrong side of the fence.

You know what I'm tired of? People like you assuming because I say he's a dumbass it's because he's not a Republican.

The mayor and ALL of the officials of New Orleans and Louisiana as a whole warned everyone beginning Friday that this storm was not going to turn, that it was a worst-case scenario, and that everyone had to get out.

Absolutlely NOT true. In fact, on Saturday morning, while standing next to the governor who was suggesting that everybody pray that the winds died down, he failed to mention that HE had already HELICOPTERED his family out.

And they did not even come close to saying it was the worst case scenario.

A mandatory evacuation in a major US city is a significant order to give. They did it, and were as blunt as could be that people needed to leave.

Yeah, they did it: Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. AFTER the President of the United States called them up and told them to do it.

A city like New Orleans does not have the means, or the equipment, or the manpower to deal with a disaster like this.

You mean they don't have the money to take care of their OWN city?

THat's been the fear all along.

All the more reason to have a PLAN and implement it at the FIRST sign of a hurricane coming, period.

There was no solution.

That's it, throw up your hands and don't do anything except whine!

With no money, what good would a paper "plan" have been?

The people of New Orleans choose to live there; they need to pony up some $$$ to at least give the appearance of taking care of their own problems.

Good lord. Will someone please correct Howlin on his "facts," I am too utterly sick of this conversation to do it. God bless New Orleans. Many prayers for the people stuck there, God give them strength.

'night.
