Once the water level in NO rises to that of the lake, which it seems to be doing quite rapidly, then there will be no forces of moving water to displace any subsequent breech repairs.

You better tell the Engineer Corp to wait - Gretta just said they "might" start plugging the dike tonite with properly sized sandbags and rubble.
