Just damn. That's the Bay St. Louis area.
The local reporters described the damage as extending a mile back.

The Army Corps of Engineers now says that the water in the city is level with the water in the lake. No more rising waters expected in New Orleans. They are bringing in 12,000 sandbags that weigh 20,000 lbs. to plug the leaks in the levees.

Count on the Corps.
The difficult they do quickly - the impossible takes them a little longer.
They will, however, get the blame for the whole mess. Count on it. The mayor has already started blaming them for not acting quickly enough. (Like HE has done his job . . . did you know he and one city council member are members of the Levee Board (ex officio but members nevertheless).)

That's an excellent idea. They can use some of the relief funds to rehab the buildings, keep themselves busy and maybe keep their minds off of their troubles.
To: Howlin
It will be moderately better in Houston. At least they have power, air conditioning and ventilation, and some sanitation.
The trip over won't be a pleasant one - those weren't Prevost air-conditioned coaches, and it's one long bus ride.
