My son's college graduation present was a trip anywhere he wanted, and - to my surprise - he decided to tour the South by car. Started in South Carolina [flew there from Seattle] and ended up in New Orleans. Glad he got to see NO before the devastation.

I feel somewhat strange about this myself - I've been through Mobile, Biloxi and New Orleans in 1997 - Katrina seems eerily close to the route I took back then.
