Oh No! My dad was supposed to leave Long Beach and go to Hattiesburg...I have heard nothing from him since Saturday

Prayers for your dad.

All I'm going on is that Howlin spoke with onyx ealier (who is ok thank God), and onyx indicated that - Lots of trees stripped and down, but no major damage. at least at her house; she said Hattiesburg is devastated, according to the MS radio stations.

My dad couldn't get ahold of his sisters, but found out they survived (in Purvis, 12 miles SSW of Hattiesburg). Not much info other than a couple trees hit the house, but the important thing is they're alive.

Hope you here from your dad soon, but realize communication is difficult now.

I was just watching MSNBC and saw footage of the beach area in Gulfport/Biloxi. I recognized the MS Power building. It is still standing but looks gutted on the garage/first floor level.
The building that is sitting on HWY 90 is a casino which would not have been anything more then a floating barge so it being in the middle of the road is not surprising...shocking but not surprising.
What took my breath away was the footage coming into Gulfport cause I know that was towards Long Beach where my dad's house is (or was perhaps).....my God. There is nothing...nothing. Not boards, not lumber....only slabs of concrete. You can not even see HWY 90. It looks like it is just covered in sand and dirt and debris. No wonder no one has heard from Long Beach. There is no way to get in there unless you fly a copter.
