Really? Now, where are all those people who were holding forth on the threads in the days before the storm that the government should just leave people alone and people were responsible from themselves?

Somewhere upthread there was talk of evacuating people from the Dome, and evacuating hospital patients TO the Dome for staging. Can't verify it firsthand, though.

WDSU reported an hour or so ago that Tulane Medical Center was going to be moving patients to the Superdome because the flooding would be causing the generator to kick out. The reporters also said that all of the hospitals in New Orleans were operating on emergency generators.

Last night on NBC, Brian Williams was showing inside the Dome when the top pulled off; it wasn't quite as simply as flapping "skin."

Whole HUGE chunks of the roof fell into the Dome, right where the people were sitting; then rain fell in torents through those holes.
