...President Bush unfurled a strong defense today of his belief in strict border enforcement...
"I understand the issue well as the [former] governor of a border state," Bush told residents of a retirement RV park in El Mirage, Ariz. .
...Bush said that from his time as the governor of Texas, "I know what it means to have a long border with Mexico. And I understand the solemn obligation of the state government and the federal government to enforce our border."
...Referring to the problems caused by illegal immigration, he said, "I understand it's putting a strain on your resources."
And emphasizing efforts by the U.S. government, which he said may not have come to the attention of his audience, the president said that "hundreds of thousands of people have been detained, trying to illegally cross into Arizona."

I would have no way of knowing, I have no intrest whatsoever in NPR, or it's propaganda.
I have noticed that whenever government money starts to trickle into something there are always strings attatched, I don't play well with those who are controled by strings.
PRECISELY MY POINT. You think NPR'd B.S. would fly if the USG under GWB had a say in it? Hm?
Think about it.

Bush you doofus. Immigration is strictly a federal issue. When you were Governor of TX you didn't exactly call up the Xlinton Administration and ask them to defend the borders.
Go attend another fundraiser with your corporate buddies or something....you are totally myopic on this issue.
I can't wait until the mid-term elections next year. Watch desperate Pubbies suddenly morph into law-and-order types on the border issue. Every conservative voter should be demanding their respective GOP candidate what their stance on the borders are, and they shouldn't give them one thin dime or get-out-the-vote support if the candidate fails to give an objective answer.
I don't think government funding of the MMP is an issue, somehow I can't see Chris Simcox accepting any government money.
As I said before, if government money starts flowing into the MMP, or the other border watch group I am involved with, I will be gone.
Does George really think he's been enforcing our border???
Hey, George! You can prove that you understand by
Arranging to return that man's ranch that the courts gave to the illegal aliens;Once you've done that maybe the American people will begin to believe that you "understand the solemn obligation of the state government and the federal government to enforce our border."Slamming the door;
Stationing the military all along the border;
Protecting the lives, rights, and property of U.S. citizens living along the border;
Initiating a constitutional amendment making anyone born in the U.S. whose parents are not U.S. citizens no longer elegible for U.S. citizenship;
Initiating laws to deprive illegal immigrants social services, including education;
Removing all illegal immigrants from the welfare rolls;
Prosecuting anyone who knowingly hires an illegal alien;
Prosecuting any illegal alien who votes in the U.S. and anyone who aids such illegal voting;
Deporting all illegal aliens; and
ENFORCING THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES (as I recall, this is one of the responsibilities you accepted when you accepted the Presidency).
Hollow rhethoric from Bush and the Washington 'do what they wants' - /s
We're supposed to be impressed with feigned concern while they continue to do nothing and hope we'll all chill and mistake their inaction for results.
I'm most disappointed with his stance on illegal immigration. Sadly, he's done little to make our borders any safer than on 9/11.

You have to realize that is hard to do when you are focusing on watching all the legal, law abiding people in the US. You know that pesky little thing caled the Patriot Act. And the BATFE is busy as bees intimidating innocent gun owners at gun shows like happened in Richmond a couple of weeks ago.
Don't forget all the grandmothers that need frisking and maybe strip searched at the airports. That takes a lot of resources also./s
GW you dropped the ball big time here bud.
You're probably right. I consider myself very fortunate. My Congressman is Joel Hefley. Hefley is a solid conservative and one of the 82 members of the Tancredo Immigration Reform Caucus. That House caucus is driving the immigration reform issue in WashDC. Hefley's tough stand on immigration reform and his head butting with Leader Tom Delay, probably cost him his position as Chairman of the House Ethics Committee. But I have noticed that Delay is coming around and facing the political facts on this tough issue. The question is, will PresBush make a move before the 2006 mid-term election.
Ping!
You got it triple-E, we want answers and ACTION!
That should have said Triple-E.
"Bush defends Border Security Policies"
You...you mean there actually ARE border security policies?
You mean someone actually had to sit and brainstorm to come up with what WE HAVE NOW!!??
Who the F*&K WAS THAT? VICENTE FOX??????
