Hi, Howlin. I was planning to post a thread for hurricane damage photos, but you beat me to it. However, I collected a lot of photos and will post them now. Some may be duplicates of what's already on the thread, but I have dial-up here at home, so waiting for every page of 300+ posts to display will take too long.

I've organized these photos mostly by location, but begin with NOAA satellite pics that give a great sense of the scale of Katrina when she hit, and also the precise location of the eye when it came ashore.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellite image of Hurricane Katrina taken as the storm moved inland after it came ashore along the Gulf Coast, August 29, 2005.

Enhanced NOAA satellite image shows the eye of Hurricane Katrina as it makes landfall just east of New Orleans.

Anybody got a pic of Clarence Thomas? I'd like to know that he's ok! :)

Bush was roundly criticized for his "hesitation" and the US response to the Asia tsunami.

People like Chirac, Schroeder, the UN, a clown in Norway all lamented the US response.

Heard anything from them about helping the people of LA, MS or AL yet?

I have friends in Covington, LA...any pics from there would be appreciated. They decided to try and ride the storm out. Haven't been able to get a hold of them since. :( We told them to LEAVE, but they wouldn't.

I wonder how many countries will rush aid to the US in her hour of need?!

Be careful what you post; other sites monitor FR and they're not necessarily liberal ones:

The waters seen flowing over the levee in this picture...

... do not appear to be from Lake Ponchatrain, but rather from the south-east and the Mississippi. Have a look at the satelite photos from Google Maps at this link: Zoomed in. Now, zoom out, and look at what is right next door.

Thanks Howlin for this thread. I have a very large family in Louisiana and we've been receiving calls from them on an intermittent basis. Mr. OBL and I were on vacation when this struck and have intermittent use of the Internet.

No one's heard from my cousin, a NOLA fireman after they were ordered to evacuate.

Prayers for all of those enduring the aftermath of this devastating hurricane.

This is the nightmare scenario people knew would one day strike at the heart of Louisiana and the gulf coast. Will be checking in later.

Thanks for the pictures. It's heart-rending. My boyfriend is from Mississippi (up north in Balzoni), but I saved a bunch for him to see this.

This looter has his priorities in order. He is getting "first things first". I'm absolutely shocked that this guy didn't evacuate.
