We lived in New Orleans because dear hubby was in the USGC--another group that doesn't get to heed the evac. orders. And then there are the doctors and nurses (and everyone else who keeps a hospital open and running) and by the way, how do these folks think those hotels in the Quarter stayed open? Those employees (and likely their families) did NOT get to head for higher ground.
The ignorance of those statements is bad enough, but the heartless factor just floors me.

Charity hospitol put out a press statement telling everyone to stay away. They don't have anything going..people are being put on the 2&3rd floors b.c of flooding and their gen's are out of action. The superdome is being evact'd for the same reason..that;s 10K + people! There are cracks in the roof pushing water into the dome forcing evacuee's up levels as well. It's pretty hectic..
On the way out Sat morning, I saw 4 or 5 USCG rescue boats in a convoy on Chef Hwy. The only thing I thought was poor b@stards ..I know the feeling.. hope their safe..
