People have only had time because of logjam traffic to move about a hundred miles or so. As metereologists have noted, this still leaves them in the path of the storm. These people have only improved their luck moderately.

Had they left Thursday, they could have gotten completely out of Katrinas path.

People in that area know, or damn well l should know they live on a flood basin. You want to point fingers, point fingers at the morons who built the city there in the first place. the Minuit the word went out that the storm could hit the area, the people...the store owners and restaurants should have been shutting their doors and on the way out warn the tourists about the elevation of the city and to get out. But they did not... they waited for the titty.

My neice and her family left Slidell Sunday morning at 4:30AM, took the back roads out and were in Jackson Miss. at 8:30AM getting ready to cut across up to northwestern La. where they own property and an RV, they were convoying three king cab trucks. They packed their trucks Sat. People with intelligence know how to plan and take care of themselves, people who depend on someone else, ie a mayor, to take care of them, deserve what they get.
