The Superdome's listed capacity for a football game is 72,003 people. The field can probably hold some more people and there are rooms scattered throughout the complex. My guess is that if necessary, they can probably cram 70-80,000 people in there, though it'd be a tight fit.

First time the "nosebleed seats' are gonna be the most desirable...

The NO Homeland Security Director was saying that they would not put more than 20-30,000 into the Superdome. They would open other shelters. They are doing full searches for weapons, drugs, and other contraband. His concern is not for comfort, but for trying to keep people alive through Tuesday morning.

I would not want to be even near the roof.

The Superdome

I only wish the Superdome was shaped like "The Igloo" (The Civic Arena) in Pittsburgh. It is shaped like an upside down hemisphere. I'm not crazy about the shape of that building in NO with those winds coming!

Btw, someone earlier had a Freudian slip and called it The Superdoom.

MSNBC said the Superdome can hold 100,000 if you put people on the playing field. Of course, if it's SRO, it could be even higher.

Too bad they can't get a live band in there. Maybe they could play "Nearer My God To Thee"...

The field can probably hold some more people

Only if they are good swimmers. On an earlier thread, there was an indication that if NO floods, the field and lower level would be under water.
