Oil 70.80 at the open. Japanese stocks set to drop.

There has been a pretty good wooble to the NNW from due West on the last few frames of the New Orleans radar.

You mean due North, right? Will have to watch to see if this is a trend, but the current track would take it well west of NO.

He says what he needs is an inside view looking up at the roof structure. He isn't sure whether it is poured, or pre-cast.

I have been googling to try to find an image whenever I catch up with the thread, which isn't often, at this point.

when they can take oil up $10 a week on no news, its not surprising they can take it up $4 on actual real news.

Goldman Sachs and the hedge funds are feeding at the trough on the backs of this tragedy.

Aare you in Nashville? We are in the Memphis area. Are we included?????

Probably. I saw it in our "Local forecast" on TWC.

The stadium is supposed to be on a 30' mound so lets keep our fingers crossed.

I hope it is built better than the WTC which Trump said were built like "Gahbage".

Here is the latest loop - it looks like it is turned north.

What chances it'll even be left standing with winds as high as their predicting?

There will be some damage, but this is not a tornado. The hurricane could spawn tornados, and that would be very dangerous if one heads for the stadium.

If you'll look at the pictures from Camille and see the devastation of the buildings...this was from the storm surge...apts were gone due to the storm surge. That's why I ask the question will the building still be standing...it's not from the winds like I was thinking it's the storm surge. http://www.geocities.com/hurricanene/hurricanecamille.htm

Yes, wind gusts are one thing but to listen to the wind roaring/shrieking for hours without letup can really put you close to the edge.

Hey, SW! Thanks for THAT bit of cheery news! As bad as that is, I'm not going to complain about $$. I did hand my son my debit card and the keys to all the cars today and he went and filled them all up. If I had any gas cans, I'd have filled (had him fill :) those, too.

does anyone believe there will still BE a New Orleans after this?

I doubt it angel. I was living in Jackson, Ms when Camille hit and we had property damage and trees down on our roof that far inland. The Miss. Gulf coast was wiped clean. We went down later and there was nothing left....nothing.

The first good news in a while!

That is a 7.1 degree westward shift in the coursetrack from the last two plots.

Probably just a wobble, but at this point I'll take all the good news I can get.

"I can't wait for FNC's anchor shift change, Paige Hopkins drives me totally nuts. Easily the worst of all."

Well, doesn't bother me. Actually, Laurie's on now, and that's always a big plus... except that bizarre Daisy Mae orange sack she's wearing is very distracting (and not in a good way)...

Not New Orleans, but Louisiana:

"The region is also home to America’s only supertanker port, the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP). Located in the Gulf of Mexico just south of Fourchon, LOOP handles 800,000 barrels of crude oil each day, 12% of the U. S. supply of daily crude imports."
