Millibars. It is a measure of atmosphereic pressure. The lower the pressure, the worse the storm, if I understand correctly.
It's the pressure. Basically, from what I understand, the lower the pressure the more powerful the storm and the higher the windspeeds. The pressure on this storm has been steadily dropping, making it more powerful. I think the record low pressure is something like 890MB (but I could be wrong. I think I read that on the Eastern US Weather Forum).
902 millibars...a measurement of pressure. As the millibars go down, the storm strengthens. Katrina's millibars just went down another 4 points.
