They break down New Orleans into Parishes. Is that like counties?
Being Catholic, we refer to Parishes as Church areas. Is that the same?
Working outside, but FOX NEWS Radio is wall to wall coverage.

I'm Catholic and have been and we always call our areas Parishes. Never heard of Church areas before. Parish is the proper word in my opinion.

Not sure if you have received an answer so I'll respond.
The state of Louisiana is divided into parishes in the same way that the other states of the United States are divided into counties. There are 64 Parishes.
