I almost want to say that once the press has abandoned her, and cast her aside as used goods... that after a time where she can reflect on how much her protest has cost her... her family, the respect of most of her neighbors, and possibly even the respect of her son, that then the President should consider quietly calling her to him to talk.
That's assuming she ever does any self-critical reflection, which is what characters in the books and movies do right before they have an epiphany. Especially the pitiful and wretched characters...
And send her to prison.

No. Her intent is to ask Bush some "how long have you been beating your wife?" type questions. She's not acting in good faith and therefore deserves neither sympathy nor attention.
