Anybody who says government had the right to take this money (and yes there is a Supreme Court Decision to that effect) is wrong or lying or both. There is no Constitutional authority for any of the socialistic programs. None!
Right or wrong has nothing to do with it. They took the money from people who worked under the guise that they would give it back. People want their money. They would be in a whole better shape if they could have invested it in their accounts but our politicians won't let them.
As a tax payer I would rather just cut my losses and move on. In twenty years from now I would likely have about $600K in a private account that had been invested conservatively.
