Rush is the MASTER.
He's brilliant, day in and day.
He's not a prude though, his show is for adults. He also has excellent taste in movies and TV shows.
There is nothing "shock jock" about him. He manages to keep his show entertaining without resorting to that foolishness.
Above all, Rush is a genius at political commentary. He often gets to the essential facts of a subject; facts others overlook. More often than not I find myself appreciating how Rush articulates the very essence of a subject, and therefore illuminates it for me.
He faces his adversities with courage. He has feet of clay and never claimed not to.

What... no mention of Rick and Bubba??? I'm shocked and disappointed.

I love Laura's show, but agree that her taste in music is wanting. She's still the best, however.

The most overrated talk show host has got to be Sean Hannity. His show consists of promoting his TV show (40%), and telling us what will be on in the next hour (25%)Most stations carry Hannity on right after Rush. IMHO he just does a repeat of Rush, which is boring. He never has anything "new" / original...just Rush redux.

Liken Rush( and the others) to Jim Robinson
It's his show.
Does your radio have an on\off button
or a station changer or a volume control?
You don't have to listen and you don't have
to read or post drivel on FR.

No one is forcing you to listen to the radio.
I did not know what talk radio was until 1990 when I found
Rush by accident.
I will take Rush and his contribution to the conservative movement over all the other talkers put together.
I never had a problem with "farDing", but I did not care for the condom updates from earlier days.
Anyway, everyone predicted that Rush, with something like 10 million listeners before Clinton, would dry up and blow away
after Clinton. What does he have now, something like 20 million per week?
Hanity: Granted he is a bit plastic, and too busy with self promotion. Lot of talk and fancy guest, but little substance.
After hearing "In my book" after the 1 millionth time, I was ready to throw a brick at the radio. He just does not have the same passion as Rush.
O Reilly: A pompous ass...enough said
Savage: His best line is "Liberalism is a mental disease"
Other then that, he needs to be on meds.

The whole point of conservative talk radio is missed in this article. Sure, some are better than others but we are getting analysis of the news with a conservative bias. After an hour or so of CNN in the morning I have all of the liberal media I can take.

From you post I suspect you would probably have a positive opinion of Al Franken.

CLUB GITMO is the funniest thing Rush has ever done. His Ted kennedy parodys are really funny too.
Judge: "What exactly were you thinking when you drove over the bridge that morning?"
Kennedy: "Ohh, what the hell"

It's hard to be humble when your making millions of dollars.
I've pretty much tuned out on some shows.
Hanity and Combes was good for a while but I could care less about hearing what the other side has to say.
Fair and balanced is not about some inane smug elitists telling you that America is bad and going to church makes you a genuine bigot.
I know how I want things to be and I damn sure don't want some over educated immoral fool trying to change my mind.
Am I a conservative, you bet your liberal diapers I am.
I'm all the things radical liberals like to look down their noses at and proud of it.
I am Christian who loves America and if thats not being politically correct, then so be it.

In my opinion the best hosts are as follows; Rush Limbaugh, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt, Denver's Mike Rosen and Laura Ingraham [...] The worse host, by far, is Michael Savage. Yesterday Laura Ingraham in a shrill and sanctimonious way was presenting Serbs as guilty of genocide on Bosnia/Kosovo Muslims. I see her as good as Ms Albright.
And Michael Savage was the only host whom I heard to be brave/clever enough to see the Serbian (the true one) side of the story and condemn the pogroms on Serbs in Kosovo.

I agree wit hthe writers' assertions on Savage...I don't like to be screamed at in my life, much less by some nut on the radio.

There are many good radio hosts out there, and I can learn and be entertained by any number of them. I love talk radio.
Here in L.A. we are blessed with Doug McIntyre, Dennis Prager, John and Ken, Al Rantel, and Larry Elder.
But the best of the best, several laps ahead of the next highest in the race, is Mr. Rush Limbaugh. Best political commentary, twinkle-in-the-eye sexy humor, spot on analysis and perfect explanations for the masses. Rush Limbaugh is a national and conservative treasure.
He can talk dirty all he wants in my house.
