Have we done anything like this for Russia? It would be nice if we did, but offhand I can't think what would be appropriate. Most things have political overtones one way or another.
A simple friendship monument from the American people (not our leaders) would be a nice gesture.
I grew up being terrified by the Russians. Then I saw a funny movie called, "The Russians are Coming", and things started going uphill for me after that. I like the Russian people what little I know about them, and I love their culture and literature.
The last few nights I've been reading three or four short stories by Chekhov in new paperback books. For some reason I'm drawn to him more than any other Russian writer. He seemed to be such a sensitive and insightful person.
Lukasz is an anti-Russian bigot, I just can't figure out if he does this for pay (he's a massive EU cheerleader) or out of personal hatred (very popular in Poland right now). I did a sampling of 5 days of his posting threads. Of 13 threads, he attacked Russians directly on 7 Russian related threads and attacked Russians directly on 5 threads having nothing to do with Russians, but he actively moved the conversation to his agenda. So on 12 out of 13 threads over a spread of 5 days he was consistently on only one theme.
This is called a one agenda poster, usually a troll.
