A longtime Boulder County Justice Center handyman accused of sexually assaulting three girls is back on trial this week after a jury in December couldn't reach a unanimous verdict.
Jorge Medrano Olivas, 46, who has continued to work for the county since his arrest in March 2004 with the condition that he stay away from children in the Justice Center, is on trial for five counts of sex assault on a child. He could face life in prison if convicted.

Olivas was 16 when he immigrated to Boulder from Mexico and began working for the county. He is now maintenance supervisor at the Justice Center, where his second trial began Monday.
Prosecutors say Olivas sexually assaulted the three sisters, ages 6 to 9, several times in the 1990s in his Boulder mobile home and during rides to the grocery store in his truck. Two of the girls, who are now teens, told social workers about the alleged incidents, and the third girl came forward to authorities several months later.
Deputy District Attorney Colette Cribari told jurors in opening statements Monday afternoon that Olivas lived "in a world where he was king," and he expected payment in the form of sexual favors.
Defense attorney Larry Mertes told jurors to question the motives behind the accusations and described his client as a "cash cow" for the accusers' mother, who he said had a serious gambling addiction.
"You're going to be able to put this together and see the missing pieces," Mertes said of the state's case.
The trial is expected to last all week.
Jurors deliberated for 21/2 days before deadlocking during the December trial.
I wonder how this individual immigrated?
Wonder if there are any unsolved sex crimes out in Boulder...

Ah, another predictable non-Aryan-commits-crime thread. Let's count how many of these threads are posted to FR today.
