If a leader has gone bad, it's God's business how to deal with him. Not man's. Robertson is WAY off base here. Yeah, I guess you're right. Kinda like ya'll have left judging Robertson to God, huh?

"The fact that almost 35% of Italians self-identified as Communists in that time period would suggest that at most 65% of Italians were Catholic."Though Italian Communists, Socialists, Fascists -- nearly everyone remained Catholic.

I don't see this as damaging to Christianity at all. Chavez is an enemy of Christ. Christ died for his enemies.

So, now are we all eager to export the policy of assassinating all elected leaders of other countries who threaten to interfere with the plans of one's own country? Goodbye rule of law....in fact, why limit it to other countries? Why not neighbors, or family members? Jungle laws, anyone? As Christians, don't forget Romans 13 and the power in Rome to which it refers.

Let's be sure all the nations of the world imitate us, and the Israelis (no trial necessary; don't mess with legal niceties; shoot on sight). Whoops, that's what we're complaining about re. the Palestinians and Al Qeada, isn't' it???? Thought we were different.

If by his statement Robertson is losing souls to salvation, do you think that is not Christian? Best argument I've heard so far.
I can't disagree with you on this point.

When God commands America to smite its enemies, I will lend your theory more credence. According to your logic we cannot apply ANYTHING the Bible says unless it addresses each of us by name.
Let's just face the fact you oppose the Bible in general.

How exactly do you SHOE HORN your Christian Principles into Assassination... I already told you.
The Bible is full of commandments by God Himself toward His people to do away with their enemies.
Guess you don't think that's very nice..... but if we followed your rules Hitler would have controlled the world.

Not their enemies...his enemies. And only at a specific time in history. As Jesus said, Love your enemies. While as a nation our leaders have the responsibility to defend our country, you cannot claim that our nation is under direct attack. By your logic, anyone who apparently threatens, or postures, can be killed. Using this logic, Pat Robertson could be a target. Can't you make a point without bringing up Hitler? What does it take to deserve assassination? Where do you draw the line? And couldn't it be said around the globe that the US poses a threat, given our proclivity to police the world. Justified or not, people are threatened by our presence. Would they then have the same right to assassinate our president?

Seems as though there is much knowledge, and "research," and MANY opinions and facts to consider...OR is it a conspiracy?
You know what's truly sad? Even before I pasted your link into my browser, I knew it was to John Cornwell's "Hitler's Pope." You do realize that this particular book has been thoroughly and comprehensively trashed by legitimate historians. The book is as much a fraud as the cover photo--which is supposed make the soldier saluting then Cardinal Pacelli look like a Nazi. In reality, the photo was taken in the late 1920s--during the Weimar Republic.
Again, you are speaking from ignorance. Here's one little tidbit you probably didn't read in Cornwell's slander of a dead Pontiff--the Chief Rabbi of Rome during WWII converted to Catholicism after the war. As his baptismal name, he took "Eugenio." Pius XII's name was Eugenio Pacelli.

I must say it's been interesting reading this thread. According to my personal beliefs, it's perfectly okay to take life to save lives. All life is sacred, be it a butterfly, a deer or a human. To kill a deer to feed my family is part of the cycle of life. To kill a killer- whether a BTK or a bloodthirsty dictator- to protect innocent lives is an honorable task for a Warrior. But to kill a butterfly just to watch it die is evil.
But it seems to be a harder decision for Christians.

I do wish the CIA would do its job in general. The CIA is essentially an arm of the DNC. They spend more time trying to figure out how to leak things than they do trying to figure out the intentions of our enemy. Like the State Department they are no longer working for our elected officials.

Though Italian Communists, Socialists, Fascists -- nearly everyone remained Catholic.Incorrect.
You have made this assertion without a shred of evidence.
In point of fact, attendance at Mass in Italy dropped some 40% in Italy between 1880-1940. During this period, for the first time, millions of children were not even baptized.
Pope St. Pius X altered the discipline on the Eucharist intentionally in order to combat this phenomenon and he encountered mixed results.

Churchill replied that you should pluck a weed before it ruins the garden Unfortunately, Robertson does not possess Churchill's dexterity with language. His ham-fisted comments are just embarrassing.
To: ex-Texan
Do you mean "forgiving" or "forgetful"?
Also, bear in mind, Pat's theology and yours may well both represent narrow, sectarian views.

Christ died for sinners. The word enemies is entirely too narrow.

Churchill's comments were also thought "embarrassing" by the socialists in parliamant.
