", the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". Pretty straight forward is it not? Unfortunately this right has already been infringed on quite a bit by unenforceable laws. Our founders understood that certain human activities can not be curtailed by laws so they wisely put those activities beyond the touch of the laws so that we can enjoy our freedoms. However want-a-be tyrants are constantly striving to do away with those freedoms so that they can impose their will on all of us.

That is a strawman argument. This issue has nothing to do with rights, but everything to do with the responsibility that comes with those rights. I haven't seen one Freeper call for his 2nd Amendment rights to be curtailed. I have seen a lot of them ask for some common sense to be used. All this crying of "my rights, my rights" sound just like the liberals when someone disagrees with them.

Since you want to invoke the founding fathers, how do you think they would feel about a man (implicitly) using a firearm to impose his will on people who were doing nothing illegal?

That is the whole point here, careless irresponsible use of a firearm, which doesn't make things any better for those of us who are responsible.
The argument has become circular now, so this thread is about done.
Good comments all.

From the way I read the story he asked them twice to tone it down and did not use a weapon to force his will on anyone. The fact that he was legally wearing a weapon in the open only induced politeness. If you bothered to read the writings of our founders you would see that they throughly approved of such behavior because they often went about openly armed themselves.
