Perhaps you can give us an up-to-date list of all the tourist attractions which are more popular.

I'll just name one. People come from all over California and Nevada, and special trains are run that week from all over the bay area: The Annual Asparagus Festival.
It is also the gateway to the Gold Country, the Wine Country and the Sacramento River Delta.

Yes, Downtown has changed considerably in the last 7 years (that I have experienced).
How long did you work in Stockton? I came here for a large project in 1998, liked what I saw and moved from Marin County. Now there's an infamous place with world-class tourist attractions!

I worked for the youth authority and travelled there often. I was there full time in the early 80s. If you go to the youth authority complex, now CDC, the front building outside the fence was my project.

The first time I stopped in Stockton was 1977. It was at a motel on Charter Way near the fairgrounds and I think, airport road. We left after finding out the smell in our room was from the livestock people had brought with them to the fair. I don't want to know why they were in the motel room.

I have fond memories of a couple of the dance clubs on the North side.

A co-worker and his father got the funding for and built the Filipine Center. Went to a couple of festivals there.

I would not say Stockton was the gateway to anywhere, but I would describe it as the gas stop.
