BTK Gets 10 Consecutive Life Terms (175 Yrs. w/o Parole)
CBS News ^ | 8/18/05

'Bind, Torture and Kill' serial killer Dennis Rader was ordered to serve 10 consecutive life terms Thursday during a tear filled hearing in which his victims called him a monster and said he should be 'thrown into a deep hole and left to rot.'

The sentence of a minimum of 175 years without chance of parole was the longest possible that Judge Gregory Waller could deliver.

The state of Kansas had no death penalty at the time the killings were committed.

Earlier Rader stood in front of a courtroom filled with his victim's family members, tell the court he believes he is a Christian and he knew he would be caught for his crimes.

Instead of asking forgiveness or a lenient sentence, Rader rambled off details about his series of murders. In a bizarre moment of triumph, he ran through a list of people he wanted to think.

He also told the judge he was honest and cooperated with police after his arrest, then said 'he blew so much smoke' in telling his story that 'nobody knows fact from fiction.'

That is why it is called ámazing grace' That's one way of putting it. 'Nonsensical grace' would be another.

Not if you're the one saved by it.

I'm for anything good happening to me or you. But not to BTK. Someone who wants to do good things for BTK is NOT a good person.

Strange you don't know the meaning of "blasphemer". But, judging from your past remarks, no amount of ignorance should surprise me.

None of us are good persons (Rom.3:23) but Christ still died for us (Rom.5:8), including BTK.

Speak for yourself. I know plenty of good people.

Christ still died for us (Rom.5:8), including BTK.

Then his dad must not have told him what BTK was going to do. If he did, that was an irrational sacrifice.

This sympathy for a man who knowingly tortured to death innocent helpless people is really disurbing.

Not in comparison with God's perfect righteousness they aren't.

Know anyone who doesn't sin?

There is no sympathy for BTK, we are discussing what Christ did for all of us.

Not in comparison with God's perfect righteousness they aren't.

In comparison to BTK they are saints.

Know anyone who doesn't sin?

It is offensive that you lump everyone who has ever sinned in with BTK.

There is no sympathy for BTK, we are discussing what Christ did for all of us.

We're talking about the possibility of BTK being forgiven by God and entering into Heaven.

We are discussing the fact that no one deserves to go to heaven.

And except for the blood of Christ, no one would. (Eph.1:7)

You must not have read the title of this thread then.

But again, thanks for lumping everyone in with BTK. You think you belong in the BTK club? Well, you know better than I.

In terms of falling short of the glory of God, yes, I am in the same category.

Do you make any relevant moral distinction between you and a man who repeatedly and consciously kidnaps and slowly tortures to death innocent men and women? Or is one person's falling short the same as another's?

Look, with many there is probably no reasoning about religion, but clearly I do not share your sympathy for BTK. On its face it is abhorent to me, but we'll just have to agree that our value systems are quite different. I like the idea of Hell, and the idea of BTK being cast into its deepest depths.

In terms of salvation, God does not judge on a curve.

You are either saved or lost.

All deserve to be lost.

Now, there may be levels of punishment based on varying factors, but as for being saved or lost it is the simple fact that God views no man as sinless and thus, all men are lost unless they accept the free gift of salvation in Christ Jesus (who was the only sinless man who ever lived)
