You think we'd go to war with a NATO ally over the Kurds?

If we can't get Turkey to honor Iraqi soverienty, you can forget about Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. Nope, if Turkey is stupid enough to carry through on this they will *have* to be put down.

They've been a dependable ally like Egypt has been. They are also the home of some of the most radical Islamists, like Egypt.

The PKK is a terrorist org like the IRA was: "terrorists with a point". The Kurds *are* oppressed and discriminated against by the Turkish government (as are Christians but that's another issue). The US is trying to disentangle the Turks and the PKK. Turkey invading Northern Iraq would destroy all of that.

Ergo, Turkey won't invade.

I don't think a NATO vs. NATO 'war' would happen, but the US would "strongly object" to Turkey doing anything stupid to invade Iraq's borders. I think one or two 'units' of US tanks along Iraq's northern border would send the message if things started to heat up.

BTW - did you know that Turkey has a city called 'Batman'? I'm not kidding - I wonder if they have a Spiderman or Aquaman somewhere?

It's a little too late to worry about "honor[ing] Iraqi soverienty" [sic]. Iraq has become a proxy battleground for Israel vs. Sunni Islamism vs. Shia Islamism. Israel is backing the Kurds, Turkey is unhappy about that, the Syrian government is trying to stay out of the mess, the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood and the Saudis are backing the Sunni resistance, and Iran and possibly Hizbullah are backing the Shias. It's a mess, and the quicker we get our dog out of this fight, the better. They've been sorting out their own messes for six thousand years, we don't need to keep our troops there for everybody to vent their stray wrath upon.
