Victims' Families Outraged, Want New 9/11 Panel
NewsMax ^ | 8/18/05 | newsmax staff

The families of 9/11 victims are outraged that military spies were blocked from sharing key intelligence they believe could have averted the terrorist attacks – and are calling for a new commission to investigate.

"I’m angry that my son’s death could have been prevented,” Diana Horning, whose son was killed at the World Trade Center, told the New York Post.

"It outrages me because it’s taken four years to come out.”

Horning and other family members of 9/11 victims are up in arms over the disclosure that the elite military intelligence unit "Able Danger” had identified Mohammed Atta and three other Sept. 11 hijackers more than a year before the attacks, but military lawyers stopped the unit from sharing the information with the FBI.

"I don’t think you can understate the significance here,” Mindy Kleinberg, a member of the Sept. 11 Advocates, a coalition of family members, told the Post.

"You’re talking about the four lead hijackers. If we shared information and did surveillance on them, there is no telling what we could have uncovered and what we could have thwarted. "I think we do need a new commission, and that’s really sad.”

Rep. Curt Weldon (R-Pa.), vice chairman of the House Armed Services and Homeland Security committees, has said the Sept. 11 commission did not adequately investigate the report that four of the hijackers had been identified.

And Bill Doyle, whose son was killed on 9/11, ripped Jamie Gorelick, President Clinton’s deputy attorney general, who codified the separation between intelligence and investigative agencies in a 1995 memo – then was chosen to serve on the Sept. 11 commission investigating the attacks.

"What is disheartening,” said Doyle, "is from the beginning, we said Jamie Gorelick had a conflict of interest.”

This story has acquired seven league boots.

I hope Charles Krauthammer (who I admire) backs off his dismissive first attitude. And is properly embarrassed.

Weldon has also mentioned that the AD had an extremley bright woman that developed the methodology that made this datamining exercise so cutting edge. She must be brilliant. I can understand anyone's trepidation on coming forward from that group...but I hope she does. She's a hero to me anyway, I hope she can re-create the essence of AD so we can use it in the future.

LOL is right. I've been around for a while and still don't have it down. Somebody will get around to it, I'm sure. Thanks for copying/pasting it in any event and have a great day....

You got the first part on my conspiracy list. He's a thought on Al-Gore.

The last part, nope, that wasn't Bush's fault.

Lt. Col. Shaffer was on CBS Today w/ Hannah Storm, saw him even on CNN. I know he's been on others as well, the word is getting out.

Hannity tried to take credit for his 1st radio interview but that belongs to Michael Savage that started the tour.

(Sept. 11 Advocates) I am not sure of the background of this particular group, but I remember some very vocal members of a group of victims families at the hearings. They had some very firm preconceived notions that Bush was to blame and actually cheered when Sen Bob Kerrey gave his lecture to Condi.

I don't think Stainman is living there. He's shacked up with a black whore in Harlem.

Kewl. I heard the main of the Savage interview. Lt. Col. Shaffer was on for over an hour. Hannity gave him maybe 12 minutes. While I appreciate what Sean does for the cause, his self promotion is very tiresome. In any event, that the Lt.Col. is getting some MSM time is a good thing. I'm looking forward to the other AD members coming out too. I doubt that the 9-11 Ommission members are....

Dude...that's just way out there....my line of thinking...we knew they wanted to attack U.S. soil...we did NOT know about 9-11...we knew they wanted to hit a military base or a national monument or something...I do NOT believe our government knew that those 4 planes would be hijacked and flown into specific targets....if we had arrested those terrorists...so what...they would go to jail and Osama would still have free reign in Afghanistan to plan more attacks against the U.S...we had to have an attack on American soil so that we could use America's might...we were attacked and still look at all of the anti-war protesters...imagine if we had went in without America being attacked....and we had to go into the middle east with our military....if we want to end this terrorists crap...we had to go in...
