I think that a LOT of what she says is scripted.

Her soon to be ex-husband's parents and siblings voted for the president in 2000 and again in '04. She stopped speaking to them looooooooooooong before her son was killed.

She's a Dem, has ALWAYS been a rabid Dem and was stridently against the Gulf War.

So while I think that she is mental, she is a calculated mental case and it wouldn't surprise me at all, to find out that she's an original member of DU.
