I think I was the first to suggest that we get some troops from Ft. Hood to come...so I take the blame for making a suggestion that was meant well...
but, I admit I didn't think it through, or I would KNOW, that they couldn't just go to a political protest like that.
Sorry, Humidston, I don't want YOU to get flamed for suggesting it...I wish though, that some troops that might be "off duty" that weekend, could stroll down in their jeans and boots, just to say HI!---and let us thank them in person.
A couple did at the last rally. It was good to see them and talk to them.
Ewww, I somehow missed this post before. Txsleuth, some day I want to meet you in person. There are thousands and thousands of people who post on FR, but you have always stood out to me. I've just never told you that.
Thanks for taking the hit for me. It just reinforces my opinion!
Active Duty can participate in this rally as long as they do NOT wear their uniform, aide in the set up in any way. I just called my husband whom is active duty AF to confirm this.
There wee several military folks at the rally last weekend. One spoke to the group, but there were at least two others that came on motorcycles. One had his CAC (common access card/ID card) in a clear pocket on his jacket when he first arrived, but I think someone reminded him of the rules and when I looked at him later, it was no longer in that pocket. (You have to show it every time you go onto the post, so likely he keeps it handy in that pocket. I keep mine (which is a Contractor version) in a back pocket of the ID badge/pass carrier I wear around my neck all day)
