I am a person who wants to be sympathetic to this woman because she is a mother whose son served in our military, and she lost her son, and I think she is truly upset. And, perhaps not capable of making the best decisions right now.
But while I share her sorrow and I hope for the best for her physical and mental health, I have to say I am finder it harder every day to feel sympathetic to her protests, for a number of reasons, including but not limited to the following:
First, with respect to her family. Her public records divorce may be a private matter, but so is what other families do -- and I don't think it's fair the left is now hounding GW about his grown daughters' future plans, demanding these girls join a volunteer army, too.
What Cindy's son did was his choice - he was not drafted. She has yet to mention that fact.
Also, I did not appreciate the words Cindy used in describing our nation's president the other day. She was sinking really low in her choice of words there, calling the president very mean names like that.
But, most of all -- she has other children. I think one of them asked her to please come home because they need her at home.
I hope she goes home soon to them. She made her point. She continues to grieve for her son. But, now, I am starting to feel more sorry for her other kids and her husband, none of whom seem to get any attention from her. That's not really fair to them. Kids who are here right now really do need their moms, Cindy.
Just my two cents.

we are pretty special...especially the children.
Cindy, you are right about that. If your kids are asking you to come home, you need to be with them.

When they start sliming my home life and my family, that's where I draw the lineAttention Cindy Sheehan ... Quit "sliming" Bush's ranch life and the media will quit "sliming" your family life. You brought this attention on yourself, don't blame others.

The irony is that this is no longer about her son, but herself.
Frankly, it's a volunteer military, any way she cuts it. If nothing else, this whole episode smacks of a woman who has an extremely guilty conscience for not talking her son out of enlisting whe she had a chance...

Talk about waving the bloody shirt. This woman is an old style Yankee Reconstructionist!!!

It isn't about politics for us. No one asked Casey what political affiliation he was before they sent him off to die in Iraq and no one asked us who we voted for in 2000 before we were handed a folded flag from Casey's flag-draped coffin. It may not have been "about politics" when this all started in 2004 Cindy, as the pictures on your website and quotes in the news showed, but YOU have made it ALL "about politics" now. You crazy moonbat.

Thanks Cindy, for admitting that your own family can not stand you. We all now know exactly how they feel. Now go put on some more sunscreen...funded by Code Pink, Mikey Moore and Al Qaeda.

Hey, Cindy...have you paid your 1996 taxes yet? Don't complain when you volunteer to be a public media celebrity that people will find out who you really are. No one believes that you chose to speak out only after your son died. We know your anti-Israel, anti-Bush history and it will come out in spite of everything the msm does to try to block it.

This is so obviously driven by guilt. I'm not a psychologist or a psychiatrist, but this lady cannot forgive herself for letting her son VOLUNTEER for the military. Her way of coping is to shift that sense of guilt to President Bust, republicans, Israelis - wherever it will stick.

When one enters into the political fray as she has, one gives up the right to privacy. Those who oppose her policies are also free to criticize her. When she made her grief public, she entered the public square. She thinks it's insensitive for the opposition to investigate and criticize her? How about all the family's of fallen soldiers who do not want someone of her ilk to dishonor the memory of their sons and daughters?
Sorry, Ms. Sheehan, you opened yourself up to this.
