Camp Casey is becoming very organized, with how-to signs placed about. Ann Wright said, "That's what we are trying to do."
Let me read you the schedule posted on a tree: "9:15 camp meeting; 10 a.m. inter-faith service, 10:30 a.m., "Food-Not-Bombs Breakfast at Peace House," and....
"Wait! Someone is firing a gun. (pause). He fired it into the air about five times. He appears to be a local inside the fence line on private property. Now he has thrown what looks like a shotgun into the front seat of a pickup, and he's stomping off out of sight. I wonder where he went.
"Now he's coming back out. I'm out here standing on the road. He's got a no parking sign in his hand, walking toward his fence. I'm going to go try to talk to him. I've got to hang up."
(three minutes later)
I went over and talked to the man. He is Larry Mattlage, who says he is on his property and just posted a no-parking sign.
"We're going to start doing our war and it's going to be underneath the law," he told me. "Whatever it takes. So y'all go find another place to do whatever you do. 'Cause this is our front yard and back yard."
I asked, "Do you mean the protestors?"
Wait.....now there's some Secret Service and cops. I'm going to get closer to hear what they're saying. People in bullet-proof vests are here now. Two Secret Service agents are now walking up his driveway towards his house, with Mr. Mattlage. A member of the Sheriff's Department has arrived. Mr. Mattlage is waving his arms now. All of them are now walking back this way.
Now they are between the lane and the house. He's at the fence now. Let me record what they are saying. I'll call right back.

ROFL! You guys are naughty. I hope they have some cigarettes handy.
Please thank Shawn for his service on my behalf
How about a 50 caliber machinegun? The kind that is belt-fed, has a thumb operated trigger on both sides of the action, cocks with a lever that takes a firm grip and strong tug, and sits on a tripod, and doesn't mind looking over 500 yards downrange? Does that count?
So did my Dad's high school and jr high school. He walked to school every Tuesday with his shotgun for range practice with the school's gun club, and stored it in his school locker until gun club met after school. The range was in the basement of the middle school. That was in 1942. Try that today...
That's great!
My husband and I think we'll buy one of those annoying singing santas this year after Christmas from Wallyworld, take the video camera and the santa and head up to the gun club.
It is a scent put out by one to tell the others to chow down NOW!!!
Oooooohh hoooh hoooohh.... (a la Tim Allen)
Yes, Shawn is an incredible man. I think he has a lot of his grandfather in him. Not my dad but the ex-wife's. I've only seen him scared maybe once or twice as an adult and never have seen him angry. I don't know how he does that. He has some war stories that are eyepopping.
I have to add that his company didn't lose anyone. There were injuries but everyone made it. Incoming mortors bothered him.
"And I want ever' redneck in Texas to come on my property, and this property here, and we gonna really have a show."
I listened to the whole interview; great to listen to.
Oh, yeah.
Maybe we could combine the crop dusting and fire ant ideas....
I think the gunsmoke takes care of that. LOL.
LOL !!
I wonder if we could take up a collection for this hard-working farmer, to help him with his chores?
He's gonna have a show, huh? I love it.
I bet they still sting. :-)
Thanks for the heads up on Fox.
I rather fancy the crop dusting idea, but a butchered javelina would make a close second. :)
It used to be that people who lived in intemperate climates had a little more common sense than the ones who migrated to the pleasant places... but man, even the midwest is getting kooky. And obviously there's a few nutjobs in Texas now too.
Shooter 2.5 those pix on your profile page are wonderful! He looks awesome. Those guys in uniform make me swoon. I told my hubby I was gonna take a pic of him and put his face on a digital photo of some guy in his bdu's just to see what it would look like. He laughed. < smile >
if she were my mother or a relative id go there and drag her away before the white coats do. Whats the rest of that family thinking???
