Our pastor last night made similarly obnoxious, though not as blatant, comments.

He called on us to reject racism and predjudice (fine so far), then likened the Canaanite woman to muslims whom "we feel free to search anytime, anywhere."

What's with the Canaanite woman comparisons? Are the priests all using the same book, or what? (it's not the Word, that's for sure) I don't see any connection between the Canaanite woman & Cindy Sheehan.

Didn't read your question properly before - today's Gospel was Matthew 15:21-28 in many churches (many others celebrated The Assumption) which is the story of Jesus and the Canaanite woman. So in that sense, our priests are reading from the same book of the Gospels. On the political side, I'm not sure.
