So, you are separating the Mass from the Homily? How do you not know that Chi-townchief wasn't the finger of God in mass today? You don't know. This priest is spreading propoganda.

He might very well be. If you note, I never said that I disagreed with his opinion. Nor did I separate the Mass from the Homily. I stated that the homily is not the center of the Mass and that the focus of the Mass is on the Word and on the Eucharist. Priests, being flawed human creators will say the silliest things at times and other times they will put you to sleep.

I have respect for the Mass, and in being in the presence of His Holiness; but not for political liberal-minded priests injecting UNTRUTHS into a sacred Mass.

While you and I can agree that the priest was spouting political views that we disagree with (though we must be careful to remember that neither of us was actually there), whether or not they were UNTRUTHS (your caps) is a matter in the end left to God. This is different from a priest speaking heretical views, which Catholics can point to being untruths. The Church has not spoken on the affairs of Cathy Sheehan. So a little humbliness is never a bad thing - even when we're sure we're right (or maybe, especially when we're sure we're right.)

Don't you? The efficacy of the mass is through the Eucharist. How does a priest prepare a congregation for the Eucharist? By telling them lies?

Hopefully not, but in the end I prepare myself for the Eucharist. No one can do that for me. So whether or not the priest gives a bang-up sermon or puts me to sleep, it's the same Eucharist.

IMHO, this is not conducive for proper "In Remembrance of Him". Can have a tendency to make the "host" stick in one's throat, going down. IME, of course.

It's not simply "In Remembrance of Him", it is Him. Now you may or may not believe that, but that is what the Church teaches - and that is where I'm coming from on this thread. Now if you believe the Eucharist is simply ceremonial bread, I guess I can understand why you place so much emphasis on the priest's homily.

I have witnessed the abuse of propoganda in the church through the ordained clergy, and I've seen exactly how your side of the aisle plays on this matter of "efficacy" ad nauseum. Knock it off.

Really, I find myself absolutely mystified by your rancor.

For starters, you are mixing apples and oranges, IMHO. Sure, there's the "church". But the RC church has been fractured JUST as many other traditional faiths have been, also.

There's the "liberal" RC and the "Orthodox" RC. And you now insert them as all one church.

I witnessed first hand how the Episcopalian (Anglican, and other churches) were taken over by "smooth talking" heretics -- too cowardly to be openly upfront about their "politics" in the church. OH NO! They played upon words, and cannon laws, and scriptures to sneak, incrementally, their "agenda" into the church in order to seize the church and alter it to a world "secular" view while masquerading as men of the cloth. What they did was ultimately HERETICAL. These priests and ordained, however, were bullocks-free cowards, with a streak so yellow down their backs, it resembled the unmentionable. Back in days of yore, the heretics were OPEN about their agenda. But in this current time and age, the heretics play "word and scripture" games from the pulpit.

Hopefully not, but in the end I prepare myself for the Eucharist. No one can do that for me. So whether or not the priest gives a bang-up sermon or puts me to sleep, it's the same Eucharist.

I do see what you are doing -- you are equating an ill-informed speech from the pulpit as being equal to merely being "bored" by a "droner priest delivering the homily". I see you. :)

I understand full, the arguments about "efficacy". It is the same God, who is there, regardless of the heresy. And He misses nothing. And no one with eyes-wide-open should not be standing up for truth when a "wolf in sheepskin" is parading before the alter. "Boring" is not on a par with "lies and indoctrination".

It's not simply "In Remembrance of Him", it is Him. Now you may or may not believe that, but that is what the Church teaches - and that is where I'm coming from on this thread. Oh, piffle. Take your snooty sanctimoniousness elsewhere. Stick to the facts, and try not to ad hominem me (via "oblique utterings) while making them.

Really, I find myself absolutely mystified by your rancor

Oh, realllly?

Just finished watching a movie with the family titled Wide Awake. A 5th grade boy in an all Catholic School searches for God.

The ending is so superb.

Angels are among us, always.

Thanks for being one of those angels.

You're an angel yourself. :-)

I'm still reading about moonbat Cindy Sheehan. That woman is something else, lol. It's becoming funny if you ask me.

Hope you have a great day tomorrow.

If it's any consolation we were at an ECUSA church this A.M. and the priest had an interesting perspective on this same lesson. I was pretty uncomfortable but didn't walk out. Maybe I should have. Bravo to you!

According to the priest we heard, Jesus was racist for not wanting to heal her daughter, but He overcame the cultural bagage of the day and had a change of mind. Homosexuality and AIDS were also woven into this sermon, too. All cultural bagage to be overcome and discarded like Jesus did. I'm not joking.

When the priest in my parish does that, I'm walking out.

Forgive him, but speak up and teach him.
I doubt he knows she's a pro-terrorist who supported the insurgents.
Maybe you should just mention it to him, so next time he gives to Cesar what is Cesar's, and to God what is Gods.
He knows not what he does. Sometimes people who think they're doing good actually do great harm. Only by opening their eyes will they understand and start to pay closer attenton to the world around them.

I commend you for walking out. I would be on the phone to the Pastor asking him if he hasn't heard of the lefts precious "separation of Church and state "mantra. They use it against us constantly, so it is their turn.

...Sheehan story a few more times asking us to imagine

This man also doesn't know Cindy Sheenan HATES Jews. She's antisemitic.
"Woe to any nation that goes against my people Israel."
Cindy is anti-Christ. Jesus was Jewish.

"Do not make yolk with unbelievers, for they tend to defile." This priest has been defiled by listening to the doctrines of demons. He needs to do some serious praying for forgiveness tonight! Wow!

I support your decision. I left a Protestant church for similar reasons, ten years ago. The tip-off began with the pastor using all the liberal buzz words, but when he started telling us how to vote, I walked out.

Now I go to a church that preaches from the Bible. If you know the words of God, it's pretty easy to figure out by yourself for whom to vote.

By their fruits you will know them.
We were warned over 2000 years ago Satan (the god of liberalism) would enter the church. Ta da! He's heeeere. The Good Book is right again!

My church pastor is a conservative, and speaks about "support the troops", "pray for Terri", etc...

The best part is...it seems the entire congregation is also conservative! He sure is greeted with loud "amens" when he talks about these things!

God did love Timothy McVea. God also loves Charles Manson and OBL. God loves all his creatures. Its up to us to love Him, worship Him and do His will in return for His love.

Bless you for doing so. My old man did similiar once, God bless him for it. At a mass in his honor after his death, during the build-up for the first Gulf War, the priest at the Hegewisch parish started making a similiar ass of himself as you described here. It still bothers me that I didn't walk out - would have been a fitting tribute to Dad.

The more I think of the Cindy Sheehan situation the more I am reminded of the passage in the Gospels that says:

What profits a man who gains the whole World but loses his soul?

Have a great day yourself, sweety!
