. . .By the way, had a chat with Deepak yesterday, he looked me right in the eye the entire time.
No, I didn't ask him if he did it, that would have been stupid. but I spoke to all the people who know and work around him and the neighboring shops, and it was quite a surprise. And that is all I have to say.

I really doubt they will find anything shady in their past, because to get a permit to live and work in Aruba, one must have a record of good conduct from the police of the home country and then the local authorities check it out.

. . . NC greenbean-the others who post here will tell you I have pretty well proven my bone fides as being a person that lives in Aruba and works her as a reporter. It isn't so hard to talk to Deepak, just went to the internet cafe and talk to him. I just didn't take the media with me.
No big deal.
I just really wanted to see what he was like.

What is your opinion regarding Deepak? Think he knows anything helpful?

I have been posting her for awhile, and most will tell you I don't express opinions about what happended that night because there are just too many unsubstantiated rumors, not only on this site, but circulating in Aruba as well, and I don't trust what most people tell me here,in Aruba either, because I know they can't be privy to that confidential information, and I wasn't in on the interregations, so I prefer to base my statements on FACTS-NOT RUMORS-FACTS

When I first went in I just asked to use a computer for awhile, Deepak was very polite, accommodating, and when I was having some trouble understanding their system (I never use internet cafes, I have my own computer) he was extremely helpful. He is kind of diminutive guy, shorter than me I think, and I am not tall. and he was very straightforward when we talked. He did not discuss what happened that night, and I think he has been told not to, and also , why should he really trust me, I am an american, possibly U.S. media, but we seemed to bridge that gap finally, and he was a bit chatty, but not about that night, and I would never ask.
All the people that know him around where he works and in the other shops in the mall really like him, he has always been a good neighbor; a polite and helpful young man. One lady, an Arubaian that has known him since he has lived on the island was quite adamant in her disbelief that he could ever do such a thing.

Interesting no?

BTW-that cafe was very, very busy when I was there, when Beth took up 90 minutes of his time, it must have been a real problem to doing business. BTW again, his boss is a woman.

Just a quick aside, do you think that Joran's suddenly accusing Deepak is just to get himself from down under? why in the world would he have protected him before? A tad suspect I think.

People may be friends, but I don't think anyone would take the rap for someone in that situation for even a day. I think he would have made that statement immediately upon being arrested, not days later.

So you are the "lone" Aruban that thinks Natalee in dead? I hear from everyone in Aruba that they believe she is alive, yet somewhere else

I was leaning toward dead also, after the first two weeks, but certainly not on the island.
Now I have heard some things that have caused me to keep an open mind.
I have just been informed by my son that someone who became very good friends with the Twittys was told by Jugs that they (the Twittys) believe Natalee is dead. Now they would just like her body back. I know who my son is talking about, and I think what he is telling me is true.

watchingclosely- thank you lots ... i want to know the truth myself, eventhough i believe in joran i really would want to talk to him about it. but i don't know if i'd be allowed to visit. and if i would get privacy to talk with him without anyone else standing around.

chinbeard - he was with his parents the way most teens are, had little arguments about not coming home on time ( like me all the time , and every other teen i know ) but he was a big sweetheart, sometimes he'd run to his mom and hug her super tight, and he'd play tennis with his dad for fun, Mr. van der sloot wasn't as good of a tennis player like joran, but it was their time together.

jaime does not look like lorenzo

chinbeard - it's actually very true :S ... if you go to carlos and charlies you'd see that 90% of the people who look and act drunk are american tourists, girls here drink, but moderated, we all have fun dancing with only tipsyness. maybe you can't blame them, here the drinking age is 18, so 18/19/20 year old girls make the best out of their chance to drink.
they don't have the best reputation over here at all.
and since they dn't live here i guess they don't care how they appear at all, they go crazy.

shocked and chinbeard - the most teens who do drugs do marijuana, i know a a handful myself, personally i find it an ok thing, it's almost like cigarettes i guess. and a small bunch, mostly ravers/punkers/rockers do xtc , but i'm so glad you asked chinbeard. i haven't seen it with my own eyes, but i've heard all around for as long as i can remember that tourists come up to beachboys to ask for drugs. even ben afleck asked a friend of someone i know to provide him with cocaine. and well beachboys get alot of money from tourists to provide them with drugs...!

by beachboys i meant young guys who work at the beach, the work at the watersports tents and there are many. one of my best friends is a beach boy. no club, no gang thing.

Melody, if you wanted to hide a treasure chest full of gold coins from everyone in Aruba, where would you go to hide it?

chinbear- i know EXACTLY where lolz, this well at the far end of the island, it's very deep, very big and at the bottom it leads to a tunnel, it's from a long time ago from the refinary i guess. but would you believe me if i say i learned about it searching with equusearch? most people don't even know those few wells there exist. so equusearch truly did search every inch.
