Howlin it is a conundrum.
The boys, we think, did the deed.
The cover up involves LE, polis chief and who knows else.
There are nefarious people on Aruba. Mob influences are present. Everyone knows everyone else.
There are alot of Croes. Some are in law firms that handle banks doing money laundering. The kids on Aruba are wild.
Did I miss anything. The context is important,,crime, corruption, the mob. The crime is simple, if you ask me.
I think Joran is crazy, crazier than sociopathic. But that is just me, nobody else thinks that.
We think Tito wants a girlfriend. Arubans hate us but need us {1/2 of their GNP is from American tourism}

But he really said that she was raped and murdered? Even if he said Deepak did it, why would he say that if it wasn't true in some fashion?

I think you are right. This guy preys on women, has been caught in multiple lies, seems to have a gambling addiction and does more drinking than the normal 17 y/o male. Add to that he is relatively good looking, athletic and has limited/ or no boundaries set by his parents. No this guy is trouble from the get-go.
Unfortunately I think he is going to walk because his daddy helped him cover up the crime. Joran will get caught some day and punished but not before he does more damage.
It is time for AVDS to take a good hard look at both her husband and son and decide if she really believes these two cretins. If not, perhaps she should cut her losses before she ends up being hurt more. If she knows anything about this it is time for her to step up, tell what she knows and put the two cretins to shame.
By American standards, he's beyond deeply disturbed.
But nobody on Aruba seems to give a gnat about American standards , in fact they hate being compared to America, hate the tourists and love/hate the limelight .
Why are they obstructing at every opportunity?

I don't think it's anything more orchestrated than a dull banality of disdain for all things US.
