I couldn't agree more, good penmanship creates a good impression, even on someone you've never met.
My Dad had beautiful hand-writing. At the age of 45 he lost his right hand in a work accident, and magically, (I thought), he taught himself how to write almost as beautifully, with his left hand. It wasn't magic of course, it took many, many hours of practice and determination. That was the premium he put on good penmanship.

Not to nitpick, but didn't Thomas Jefferson write it? I thought Hancock was merely(!!) the first to sign it It is John Hancock's signature he is trying to copy.

No one writes beautifully anymore. The personal touch is becoming a lost art. Most of us are too dang busy to write beautifully. If I wrote beautifully I'd starve.
