Apparently only the shill second team is out today.

Boy, have we got them scared ! They see we are realizing that we don't need them but they need us.

A culturally conservative, economically populist party could become the majority party for the next generation. It would get California back for the GOP.

>"small government is not always wise or the best option..as long as individuals have power to pursue their dreams, government can help..that's the essence of Bush's governmental view"<

I suppose that explains why he and fellow Republican leaders continue to allow the abusive IRS progressive tax system to continue in it's present form, almost 5 years into his Presidency, with Republican control of both legislative and the executive branches

...And why the Dept of Education continues to grow, (No Child Left Behind Act, worked out with Teddy Kennedy)
..Why the HHS continues to grow, along with 288 million dollars approved in the current fiscal budget in Title X funding for "family planning" (funding Planned Parenthood) in HR 4818, etc, etc.

Thanks for reminding me why I left the Republican party a month ago.

I think that many third party voters on FR are too coward to admit it since once they do so, they know that they will be branded a "stupid" and rightly so because it is stupid to waste a vote for a third party.

I admit it. Heck,I am proud of it!

" I find the thought of GW Bush sincerely wishing to emulate RWR extremely hard to believe. "

None the less it's true. Why do you think so many people from Reagan's administration returned to work for Bush?

Have you ever talked with someone who has spent any time with G.W. and discussed Reagan with him? I have.

Of course you believed every word that the homeless man said about the subject also.

The GOP is disintegrating right before our very eyes - over illegal alien immigration.

It is still a shock to me how Washington and Bush could just treat this issue as if it was just another party joke. I have long contended that Washington STOPPED working for the people of this country a long time ago, and are only concerned with elitist agendas, garnering votes, and building ego-feeding legacies.

A third party is what happens and what should happen when politicians flatly refuse to listen to the people.

Nothing like a penetrating analysis of the issues, eh?

Keep it up. Halliburton needs propagandists. You can apply.

In these times where so many of us feel betrayed, I look at this psalm to give me comfort

Douay Rheims Psalm 42

I will go to the altar of God. To God who gives joy to my youth. Judge me, O God, and take up my cause against the nation that is not holy. Free me from the unjust and deceitful man. For You, O God, are my strength, why have You cast me off? And why do I walk in sorrow, while the enemy troubles me? Send forth Your light and Your truth, they have led me, and brought me to Your holy hill, and to Your dwelling. I will go to the altar of God, to God who gives joy to my youth. To You, O God, my God, I will give praise upon the harp, why are you sad, O my soul? And why do you trouble me? Hope in God, for I will still praise Him, the salvation of my countenance and my God

How dense are you? The CFR does not want illegal immigration to be brought under control. So you see it is not being brought under control even though 80% of the public wants it stopped.

#200.

Sad but true. If we had held our own instead of compromising for votes this country would still be the United States and our children wouldn't be struggling to learn a foreign language just to be able to attend public school.

Compromise ruined us.

the US government has been giving permits to American arms dealers to sell weapons, tear gas, and other riot-control equipment to Venezuela.

Its obviously ok to sell Chavez's government arms. Chavez must be a friend of the adminstration to get favored treatment like this.

I would like to see Roberts clarify that Roe v. Wade is not law before he gets confirmed.

I think anyone who knows their history well understands that the Supreme Court can overrule prior rulings. It's part of our history. And the agenda of conservatives is to do exactly that with Roe. The real question is whether Roberts will. But I don't expect we'll know until after he's on the Court.

The Constitution says that Congress has _all_ legislative powers, but Roberts has effectively stated the liberal mantra that court decisions are law, too.

Well, the Constitution says that. Just like it says that federal taxes are legitimate for tariffs and says nothing about income taxes. Yet, conservatives are free-traders and anti-tariff. So it's a little hard to get too constructionist with the modern GOP being what it is.

I don't think that most of the GOP is any more eager to see issues like abortion dumped back in their laps. They kind of like the current arrangement where the Dims fleece the feminists to support abortion and they fleece conservatives by preteneding they'll restrict or outlaw abortion. It's a neat political economy, no?

At any rate, before we go to far down the road of 'court-stripping', something Roberts has spoken out against, we do have to recognize that if we grant too much authority to states and restrain federalism too much, we end up with a Court that has to respect the New London decision. The difference is that the New London decision took a local issue and then imposed it on the entire country. A worst of all possible worlds outcome. I just hope Roberts would have voted against or we'll come to regret the retirement of the unpredictable O'Connor.

I wish we had a nominee whose views we knew a little better. Souter wrote a lot of stuff as conservative as anything you'd ever read and then turned liberal. Ann Coulter has reported on how surprisingly conservative he looked on paper. The truth is that we won't know if Roberts is fish or fowl until he's been on the Court for a few years.

which will accomplish nothing more than to elect a Dem scumbag who will open the floodgates to perdition.

I thought they were open.

At least, I didn't vote for President Bush.
