Sometimes Israel is a Jewish state, sometimes it's a liberal democracy. Depends on what works best at any given time.

I know. I just wanted to say that the far stronger case for Israel is about today. Human history is filled with cultures coming and going over certain pieces of real estate. If we used the criteria of 'who lived here 3000 years ago', then a lot of populations would be called illegitimate today.
