Actually (appropriate enough) Sooners were criminals, if I remember correctly. They were the people who illegally jumped the gun, so to speak, at the Oklahoma land rush.
Unfortunately, it's an Indian tribe. Maybe they'd best change their name to "Latter-Day Utes".
