Speaking as someone who actually lives in D.C., please don't vote if you're not from here. This isn't your city, it's my city. I'm sick to death of arrogant meddlers like Henry Bonilla who presume to treat my home like a board game or an ant colony.

Anyway, Tom Davis has already said that bill is D.O.A. We'll be quite content with Reagan National Airport and the Reagan Trade Center downtown.

So I guess that you would be opposed to renaming it 'Reagan D.C.'

I support your view, besides how many things need to be named Reagan?

Once upon a time I lived on Grove Street in Berkeley. The UC students decided the street name should be changed to The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. Way.....It was a truly nasty confrontation.

So if you don't live there, bug off.

DC is a federal city--that is the whole point of its existence. It belongs to all of the United States. If you don't like it, move to a state. There are several to chose from within easy commuting distance. DC is a unique city.

In the 50+ years I have live in Northern VA (yes there are actual locals around here) we have been blessed with the fact that the Potomac River stands between us and the City. Most of the crime move/flowed South and East into PG County as the former city residences in those areas that moved in to PG County in the 60-70's fled once again south and East to Anne Arundel and Charles and St. Mary Counties to avoid the wave of “issues”; that are bred in Washington DC streets.

We can have a debate on Washington's lack of direction for hours and yes maybe years and always come back to the facts that a city of 90% Democrats, 83% black, 100% urban, with 40 years of meddling by a Democrat controlled Congress, has been unable to find its way other than speedup the death spiral.

DC used to have a population of 875,000 people. Since “Home Rule” kicked in the population has fallen to under 480,000. The local politicians are the worst kind of race baiters ever dragged up from the politics of hate. White areas are taxed at a higher rate than corresponding areas of “color”. Not sections but by the block. The city services are poor, DC streets require SUV for survival of tires and suspension part life, the water and Sewer system is from the 1800 (Hey anyone want to see a 100+ inch pipe made from wood come look under the street around DC), the tax base voting with their feet, and the City wants more $$. Gee I think that more money is not the solution. Congress has played in DC over the years with repeated failures and still comes back for more.

The poor educated blacks who live here find themselves and their families under attack daily by the street crime that sucks up their kids. Looking for a safe place to raise a family they move into the burbs at an ever-increasing rate.

I have called on business in this area for many years and see the destruction on a first hand basis as the streets are littered with crime and plywood covered buildings. This City and maybe Detroit have more 18-34 old males on the street corners pushing drugs than employed in legal businesses.

The solution? Come one and all as the Congress hasn’t a clue how to solve the only Federal run city in the USA.

Oh by the way good old Marion “Mayor for life” Barry was re-elected back to the city council again so stay tune for the next round of National News Reports as Mr. “the bitch set him up” as the locals say, runs again for the Mayor’s chair.

Regarding 16th Street getting renamed: Based on the history of 16th Street I would say let us rename Penn Ave "Ronald Reagan Avenue" as that would spin the local democRATs into a white foaming rage and would be more PRESIDENTIAL too! Kind of a two for one deal.
