He's got you fooled too then . It's more like wink wink it's a dime store novel but I have you bone heads all up in arms thinking it's a true slander on Christians. He's SELLING BOOKS ..get it..he's CREATING a controversy to sELL BOOKS.Again , my local priest had a ball with it ..It's a dime store novel , nothing more.If you see a real threat in it , that's a problem on YOUR part not the authors. He's trying to make money .AGAIN it's FICTION and listed as such

I'm no bonehead. I'm not fooled. He's all about the money. It's not a threat to me, because I am not fooled by it. But recognize that others are fooled by it and taking it as truth and that does have reprecussions for all of us Catholics at least. And the author subtly encourages this.

The controversy is that even Brown thinks the book is fiction except for the part about the Church. He hints taht those 'secrets' are some kind of Holy Grail, waiting to be discovered, revealed. I'm not fooled by it. The sad part is that so many others allow themselves to be. It plays off of anti-Catholic teachings that have resurfaced as supposed truths in certain 'Catholic' crowds and they view his 'novel' as confirmation finally about what they've suspected all along and Brown subtly encourages this not just for the money but also because he seems to 'believe it'. Substitute any other word in there for Catholic, religious or not. Such a story would either be accepted as truly fiction and off the wall or completely disavowed. This is not happening here, because Catholic bashing is acceptable.
