An empty, empty gesture, that they will, no doubt, cite as a sort of church 'blessing'. Blech. How soon till they call out "Fr." Andrew Greeley or Drinan to get 'blessings' from them, especially if the Nicolosi suggestions are ignored or fall short, both of which is likely?
