I suggest you read the post by those who see this book as such a terrible thing. It's a dime store novel ,nothing else. read it and find out yourself.
I did. The posts in question refer to what others think about it, not really about the book itself. Yes, it is fiction. But, many actually believe it to be historically accurate. I don't know why, but they do.

I would love to oblige, but I have far too many books in the way as it is. I am on the third book of Patrick O'Brian's 21 novel "Master and Commander" series. Only 18 more to go. And there are many other books staring at me from the shelf I need to find time to read.
