Of my 6 sons, only one still learns in kollel part time while working as a teacher. Another, decided he wasn't cut out for learning, has finished his IDF tour and is now working at a construction job, doing a job "Israelis don't want to do." And guess what, he is Haredi, though you would never think so from all the stereotyping.
Oh and speaking of stereotypes, even though he lives next door to a gay club and has been propositioned thousands of times by stupid deviants, he has never stabbed a gay or even punched one, in spite of being repeatedly provoked (I won't say he has never used cuss words).
If he taught, he learned. The bachurim ask questions and sometimes he has to research and sometimes he digs deep to find the answer. He learned...G-d Bless him.
A son that works in construction and is Haredi...another stereotype shot to pieces.
I watched a very interesting documentary about "frum" homosexuals. Believe it or not, one was a Yeshiva bachur...and he was HIV positive. He's been to several Yeshivas...and keeps getting booted out because he dresses in drag for the Gay Pride Parade. You'd think that he'd get the message, but not yet.
BTW, thanks for sharing that. It's good to know who you're posting to. Very often it helps to understand who the other person is...and where they're coming from.
