why have kids, why don't people just wait until they can "afford them" or "have the time to devote to children?
Accidents happen, If she wasn't a irresponsible mom and just plain forgot, it's still wrong. You bring a life into this world and it was her responsiblity to make sure child was safe at all times will in her care.

This is my story: When my kids were little, we were late for church. As we pulled up in front of church(small church, small parking lot), my two older kids jumped out and headed for Sunday School. My wife and I got out and headed in different directions, I think we both had separate classes. We left the one year old in the back seat. We both thought the other person was taking him to the nursery. When I came out to put SS material in the car before going into the next service, I discovered him in the back seat. Thank goodness he was OK. I was shocked. He apparently didn't cry much, otherwise someone else would have heard him. Also, it was mild temperature.

It seems that everyone who writes in the Freerepublic are perfect parents and never make misstakes. I hope none of you every make a mistake and injure your children. Most accidents happen when we are in a hurry. Slow down!

Your comment about wait until they can "afford them". I doubt if you would be here if your parents had to wait to afford you. Most young newly weds can't afford much but thats the life cycle. You are usually not financially secure until you are in your forties. You sometimes have to step out on faith and maybe live with a little bit less.
I was born poor, but I still had a great life. I'm glad my mom didn't abort me.
