Try Utah!!! We have everything that's good about CA scenery, mountains, etc. (well, unless you just have to have an ocean nearby.....) and almost none of the downside: a lot fewer leftist idiots here (though they do run Salt Lake City), little crowding outside of the Salt Lake valley, etc..... and a lot of good people!

My wife and I absolutely love the beauty and friendliness (as tourists) of southern Utah...but we had discussions with some more "open" of the locals and it quickly became very, very clear that as non-Mormons we'd never really quite fit it.

Would really appreciate your take on that aspect....it's been a few years since we scouted around up there, and things might have changed.
