You explained what happened much better in terms of wolf/dog psychology.
Many people are blind to danger in humans and in domesticated animals.
Training helps, consistent and decent treatment helps, good breeding and culling helps most, but DNA is DNA.
Most people are woefully ignorant or blinded by love about what dog DNA is all about.

I raise wolves. The are not the "Big Bad Wolf" that society makes them out to be.
I have never been threatend by them or felt nervous around them. They are sweet and loving and have accepted new animals in their pack with a total lack of violent behavior, only curiosity and acceptance.
