I wonder what word the media used when Clinton did this? I bet they used "appointed".

Bush adhered to the practice started under Reagan, to give advance notice of his intentions -- so that Congress could take action, by voting down his nominee. Bush gave his notice; Congress did not act; Bush made the recess appointment.

It's not that Bush is so brilliant. The minority is having trouble accepting reality. They want to believe they still are in charge.

One more lesson. Oh, the learning curve!

Bush had refused to give up on Bolton even though the Senate had voted twice to sustain a filibuster against his nominee.

Uh no, a select few on a committee held up the nomination. He never came before a senate vote, in which he would have passed.

The media is lying again.

Perhaps:

Bush Circumvents a Senate That Seems Intent on Circumventing the Constitution (and any sense of responsibility or decency)

would be a more apt headline...

Dubya keeps slapping the DemoRats. One of these days they might just learn not to "misunderestimate" him. I doubt it though. I especially liked this part:

Bush said that Bolton's nomination had been supported by a majority of the Senate but that "partisan delaying tactics by a handful of senators" had denied the nominee the job.

This lets everyone know it was the DemoRats who prevented the U.S. from having a representative at the UN for the last 5 months.

The nice thing about this is that, in the end, the democrats did NOT filibuster him because they said he was extreme.

Instead, they filibustered him because they wanted more documents.

Yes Teddy, but not as devious as turning up that inquest of the woman you drowned wearing a neck brace to garner public sympathy...

A majority of the Senate stood ready to confirm John Bolton. The Democrats preferred to play politics with our national security. It was extraordinary of them to deny a vital post to a man in whom the President had confidence. Fortunately President Bush had patience and outsmarted the Democrats. In the end, their dog and pony show did them no good whatsoever.
