My criticism of Mr. Limbaugh is pointed at his lack of contrition, and the absurd arguments supporting his drug abuse, while he was golfing away!

Well, as an addict myself, I am definitely a little concerned if he did any justifying whatsoever.

OTOH, when he came back from rehab, I have never heard a more contrite Rush.

I am just a mal-adjusted old fart, who thinks he knows everything. I'm sure there aren't any others on FR, or elsewhere...

As for Rush, I choose not to listen very often. I guess his appeal grew cold, but I still do tune in to hear some thoughts bandied by his callers... Just like here on FR...

Here, though, you get a little voice, and a lot of grief, when you upset an iconic image!

My long departed friend used to remind me of an old adage. "Opinions are like a..holes. Everybody's got one!"

I never got caught up in any drug or alcohol addiction, thank God, but I have used both, and still do. I enjoy a good red wine with dinner, and a brandy or B&B with a cigar later. I like a good margarita. But something in my being keeps me from getting drunk. I limit myself, and keep reminding myself of a twelve year old friend and I, of the same age, that got into his dad's bottle of rum. It is enough memory for me, even with two years of Navy!

As for drugs, I admit that a friend, or two, have recently shared a doobie with me, but it is not a habit, and I have no stash. I have admonished those friends that have offered me anything white. I have never and would never do it, because I know I would like it too much!!! I can't afford the repercussions! I would buy pot immediately from an ABC&D store, as soon as it were legalized!!! Hopefully Jose Cuervo would get into that business, as well!

BTW, my drug of choice these days is ibuprophen! I walk on a mountain ridge nearby, most every day, with Spot, my year old dalmation. Where I will walk five-seven miles, most days, he will run twenty, or more. But my few are tough on my 58 yr old frame. I just try to keep the machinery oiled and working! It helps to justify the steak and baked potatoes, with loads of sour cream and slabs of butter, washed down with a shiraz, cabernet, or merlot!

I took some friends to dinner last year at a place in VA. It's a five staar, and has prices accordingly. By the time we walked out, the bill for the five of us would have fed a small african country for several years. (We ate from a fixed price menu, and had three bottles of wine, and three glasses of good cognac. The bill came into four figures, rather much!) It was good, but it was a one of a kind thing for me. It's one of the things I can afford to walk away from. I'm a good cook, married to a good cook, and yet we like to eat out!!! That's an addiction I can live with! I'll just stay away from those places, and spend the difference on travel!
